At Hubert's Haberdashery, sustainability is not a marketing angle. It's the foundation of how we create. Every garment, every decision, and every material is chosen with intention. We believe clothing should honor the earth, respect the people who make it, and serve the person who wears it for years to come.
This page shares how we approach sustainability and why stewardship guides everything we do.
Our Philosophy
We create slowly, intentionally, and with respect for the natural world.
Our work is rooted in three principles:
• Use natural fibers whenever possible
• Produce only what's needed
• Design with longevity in mind
We believe sustainability is not just about materials it's about mindset. It's about choosing care over convenience, quality over quantity, and responsibility over speed.
Natural Materials
We prioritize natural, renewable fibers that feel good on the skin and tread lightly on the planet. Our materials are selected for:
• durability
• biodegradability
• comfort
• low impact production
Every fiber we choose is part of a larger commitment to reduce waste and create garments that last.
Made With Intention
Hubert's Haberdashery is a small, hands on studio not a mass production facility.
This allows us to:
• create in small batches
• avoid overproduction
• maintain exceptional quality
• reduce waste at every step
We believe the most sustainable garment is the one made with care and worn for years.
Responsible Production
Our workflow is designed to minimize environmental impact:
• thoughtful patterning to reduce scrap
• efficient use of materials
• slow, deliberate construction
• long‑lasting finishes and details
We don't rush. We don't cut corners. We build garments meant to be lived in, repaired, and cherished.
Our Materials & Certifications
We work exclusively with natural materials and manufacturing partners who share our commitment to ethical and sustainable practices. Each material we use and every facility we partner with is backed by internationally recognized standards ensuring responsible sourcing, humane working conditions, and environmental care:
Organic Cotton
Our organic cotton garments are made from 100% organic, non‑GMO cotton, crafted in certified facilities that meet internationally recognized standards for responsible, ethically managed production. This ensures natural softness, breathable comfort, and a responsibly sourced fiber from field to finished fabric.
Certified to: OEKO‑TEX Standard 100 · Fair Trade Certified™
• WRAP Certification
Our Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production facilities meet rigorous standards for worker safety, fair labor practices, and environmental compliance.
Responsible Wool Standard
Our 100% natural, biodegradable merino wool is sourced from mulesing-free Australian farms, where sheep naturally shed their fleece each year.
Better Cotton Initiative
The Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) is a global non-profit organization dedicated to making cotton production more sustainable. It focuses on improving environmental, social, and economic conditions in cotton farming through responsible practices.
The Good Cashmere Standard
The Good Cashmere Standard® is an independent standard for sustainable cashmere. It was developed by the Aid by Trade Foundation (AbTF) and aims to improve the welfare of cashmere goats, the working conditions of farmers and to protect the environment.
These certifications are not ours to claim, but they represent the values of the partners we choose. We believe transparency matters, and we're committed to working only with suppliers who uphold the highest standards.
Stewardship in Practice
Stewardship means taking responsibility not just for what we make, but for how we make it.
For us, that includes:
• transparency in our process
• honest communication with our customers
• continuous improvement in our sourcing
• respect for the communities we serve
We see ourselves as caretakers of craft, materials, and the environment.
Our Approach to AI
We use AI the same way we use every tool with intention.
AI supports our sustainability goals by helping us:
• reduce waste through better planning
• improve clarity in communication
• streamline operations so we can stay focused on craft
We do not use AI to mass‑produce or replace human creativity.
It is a quiet tool in the background, never the heart of what we do.
A Future Built on Care
Sustainability and stewardship are not destinations they are ongoing commitments.
As we grow, we will continue refining our materials, our processes, and our impact.
Hubert's Haberdashery will always remain rooted in:
• Natural Fibers
• Intentional Design
• Responsible Creation
• Human Craft
